 Good morning Queenstown! We got up early in order to catch our 6:30 AM all day excursion tour to Milford Sound, boat ride across the Sound and then Airplane ride back to Queenstown.

The first hour of our ride was dark due to the early hour. Hopefully on the way back, on the airplane, we’ll be able to see the sights Erik, our guide pointed out. 

We made several stops along the way at the high interest spots. One stop was more beautiful than the last. 

One of our favorites was Mirror Lakes. The reflection of the mountains in the still water was can I say it again…amazing!





Next we stopped at various spots in Fiordland National Park. 














Next stop Milford Sound for a tour boat ride across the sound. We saw waterfalls, seals, dolphins, and glaciers atop mountains. The sights were spectacular. New Zealand is magnificent.


















The icing on the cake was an airplane ride back to Queenstown. Magnificent, awesome, fantastic, and frightening can’t describe it. We were met by Doogie Houser, our pilot. He walked us to his plane. It was an 8 seater. Steve sat in the Copilot seat. Then 2 couples and then Jeff and I were in the back. We all wore headphones, as if we were bringing in planes at JFK. Then the fun began. We were so close to the mountains and glaciers. Something beeped every once in a while. It was the same beep we heard in the car when Steve came too close to the left side as he was learning to drive on the left side of the road! I wanted to close my eyes, but I didn’t want to miss anything. 
The views were something out of a movie. The colors of the water were different shades of blues and turquoise.



















 Glenorchy Air was the airlines for the filming of Lord of the Rings. Hence LOR on our plane!






It was a fantastic day to say the least! We had read about Ferg Burgers and decided to try it for dinner. The day before when we went into Queenstown we saw the line to get in was quite long. Tonight we were able to just walk right in and order our burgers. The burgers were good, and the beers were cold. It was a perfect combination!

 June 12, 2026 – Stirling Castle and a Scottish Welcome Good morning, Edinburgh! Steve and Jeff went out exploring early this morning while Susie and I stayed back to get ready for the day. During their walk, they visited St. Mary’s Cathedral. Construction took five years and was completed in 1885 at a cost of £110,000, which would be roughly equivalent to several million dollars today. One interesting fact we learned is that no building in Edinburgh is permitted to be taller than the Castle, helping preserve the city’s historic skyline. At 12:45, we met the other 20 travelers on our Tauck tour in the hotel lobby. The group seems wonderful, with most people around our age, along with a few who are younger and a few who are older.   Saturday, June 13, 2026 – Edinburgh, Scotland We had a leisurely breakfast at 7:00 a.m. because it was wheels up at 8:00 for a full day of sightseeing of Edinburgh. Our first stop was a private tour of Palace of Holyroodhouse. The palace is magnificent and steeped in centuries of history. It serves as the official Scottish residence of King Charles III. Since the King is not currently in residence, we were fortunate to be allowed to tour his home. He is expected to arrive later this month for Royal Week. No photographs were permitted inside the palace. Tauk gave us a souvenir tour book so I have included some pictures.  The dining room was set for fourteen guests with beautiful green china designed to complement the wall color. We walked through the actual sitting room where members of the Royal Family receive guests before dinner.
