Today was a settling in day. We walked around Avignon. There is a cafe right on the corner of our block. We had cappuccino and croissants. As you bring the croissant to your mouth, your senses are pleasantly awakened. The smell of butter hits you first. The crunchiness and flakiness is secondary.
The Les Halles Market was a short walk from our house. It was amazing. You can find everything there. Wine, bread, meat, fis, cheese, fruit, vegetables…our lack of French was not a problem. Everyone speaks English. As long has you start with Bon jour, they are very helpful. We found some delicious things to bring back to the house for lunch.
It was raining so we stayed back at the house for naps and a game of Five Crowns. Steve won the first game and Susie won the second game. I HATE THIS GAME! The rain let up and we decided to go to the Brassiere L’Horloge for dinner. Horloge means the clock. Steve and Jeff tried escargot. They looked and smelled delicious.
We also had lamb stew, salmon gravlax, and pasta with truffles. It was a really delicious meal!
Back to the house. We have an early start with Francois. We are going on a winery and olive oil tour.
