 We did a little shopping in old town. We saw a perfect gift for Jeff. It was a horseshoe! It will help him remember his first taste of horse in Italy! 



We decided to go over to Martina Franca. They have a beautiful Old Town. Lots of winding streets with charming doorways. Lots of Baroque influence. They have a beautiful town square with several churches. 














We decided to go to a lunch spot that Glenn had recommended. He said it was a favorite of his in Martina Franca. It proved to be a beautiful spot on a winding alleyway. It was called Gaonas. It was named after a priest in the area. 
















Everything was delicious. I think it was one of the best meals of the trip. We had white rabbit sauce with truffles and capers and olives over fettuccine. We didn’t know if it was a white rabbit or the sauce was white. Things were lost in translation. 



The waitress was adorable. She was studying International Languages. She loved practicing with us. We bowed to her expertise and had her pick our menu choices. She gave us a taste of their Lemoncello. She said they made it in a Sous Vide. This way takes about 3 hours as compared with the way her Nonna makes it taking 3 months.  Everything was beyond delicious. After lunch we continued our walk around old town. It was now 2:00 and it was REPOSA! Just about everything was closed! We saw the Bufana hanging in the alleyway.



Back home to Polignano a Mare. The roads are so beautiful and picturesque. We have seen the grapevines beginning to bud and the farmlands are getting green since the beginning of the month. 

We are staying in for dinner. Lemoncello Spritzers, meats and cheeses, Fanuck salad, cookies…a feast. Another round of I HATE THIS GAME and bed!

 June 12, 2026 – Stirling Castle and a Scottish Welcome Good morning, Edinburgh! Steve and Jeff went out exploring early this morning while Susie and I stayed back to get ready for the day. During their walk, they visited St. Mary’s Cathedral. Construction took five years and was completed in 1885 at a cost of £110,000, which would be roughly equivalent to several million dollars today. One interesting fact we learned is that no building in Edinburgh is permitted to be taller than the Castle, helping preserve the city’s historic skyline. At 12:45, we met the other 20 travelers on our Tauck tour in the hotel lobby. The group seems wonderful, with most people around our age, along with a few who are younger and a few who are older.   Saturday, June 13, 2026 – Edinburgh, Scotland We had a leisurely breakfast at 7:00 a.m. because it was wheels up at 8:00 for a full day of sightseeing of Edinburgh. Our first stop was a private tour of Palace of Holyroodhouse. The palace is magnificent and steeped in centuries of history. It serves as the official Scottish residence of King Charles III. Since the King is not currently in residence, we were fortunate to be allowed to tour his home. He is expected to arrive later this month for Royal Week. No photographs were permitted inside the palace. Tauk gave us a souvenir tour book so I have included some pictures.  The dining room was set for fourteen guests with beautiful green china designed to complement the wall color. We walked through the actual sitting room where members of the Royal Family receive guests before dinner.
