Sunday

 Another beautiful day. No plans no rules today. We are having a quiet day. Reading on the top deck.We had a great lunch on our terrace. It was pizza. Their pizza is a thin crust. We like the margarita and 4 cheese. 2 boats were out in the water across from our terrace. They were anchored there for over an hour. They were playing music on their boat. It made us think it was a Saturday on Tennanah Lake. 





Some of the people on the boat jumped in the water. Shortly after they jumped in the water a Police boat raced up fast. The police spoke to the captains of each boat. Both boats quickly left and the police followed them into the marina. We looked over and saw that the manager of the Grotta Palazzese next door was watching the whole scenario. I wouldn’t be surprised if he had called the water police. They don’t want their patrons listening to loud music and boats carrying on when their guests are trying to have a romantic lunch or dinner.

Steve and Jeff tried out the new octopus lure they bought in Ostuni. They came up empty handed. They believe it’s defective. What else could be the problem? 


We walked over to Old Town to the overlook at the Lama Monachili to see the sunset. It wasn’t especially pretty tonight. The streets were crowded due to St. Joseph’s Day and the celebration of Father’s Day.






We walked down the neighborhood paths and decided to sit in the square and people watch. Jeff was wandering around and we saw him talking to someone. He had his scarf and cap on so we figured he was pretending to be a local. He came back and said, “Guess who that was?” It was Massimo. Our friend from Luna’s coffee shop. His wife Vittoria had been so kind in telling us places to go and restaurants to try. They were putting the finishing touches on their townhouse for rent on Airbnb. They wished us a good trip to the Amalfi Coast and told us places to visit there. 


Back home for a dinner of cheeses, fruit, and bread from Altamura. We have an early start tomorrow, so a quick game of 5 Crowns and early to bed!

 June 12, 2026 – Stirling Castle and a Scottish Welcome Good morning, Edinburgh! Steve and Jeff went out exploring early this morning while Susie and I stayed back to get ready for the day. During their walk, they visited St. Mary’s Cathedral. Construction took five years and was completed in 1885 at a cost of £110,000, which would be roughly equivalent to several million dollars today. One interesting fact we learned is that no building in Edinburgh is permitted to be taller than the Castle, helping preserve the city’s historic skyline. At 12:45, we met the other 20 travelers on our Tauck tour in the hotel lobby. The group seems wonderful, with most people around our age, along with a few who are younger and a few who are older.   Saturday, June 13, 2026 – Edinburgh, Scotland We had a leisurely breakfast at 7:00 a.m. because it was wheels up at 8:00 for a full day of sightseeing of Edinburgh. Our first stop was a private tour of Palace of Holyroodhouse. The palace is magnificent and steeped in centuries of history. It serves as the official Scottish residence of King Charles III. Since the King is not currently in residence, we were fortunate to be allowed to tour his home. He is expected to arrive later this month for Royal Week. No photographs were permitted inside the palace. Tauk gave us a souvenir tour book so I have included some pictures.  The dining room was set for fourteen guests with beautiful green china designed to complement the wall color. We walked through the actual sitting room where members of the Royal Family receive guests before dinner.
