 This morning we started our next road trip to the Amalfi Coast. It’s a cloudy day and in the high 50’s. It’s about a 4 hour drive from Polignano a Mare. We passed some beautiful farmland with olive trees, grape vines, cherry trees, and almond trees. 





Our first stop on the Amalfi Coast  was Ravello. The first red flag was raised when we looked at the map on Waze!




The ride to say the least was an hour of switchbacks and treachery. Steve is an excellent driver, but he does need something to work with! The overlooks were beautiful. 





But the roads! They were so narrow. Tour buses, work trucks, vans…  You never knew what was behind the next curve. At one point we turned and this was in front of us!



GOATS!!


We finally reached Ravello. It is a beautiful hilltop town. They call it the Balcony of the Almafi Coast. 









Susie bought a beautiful ceramic piece! You’ll have to ask her about it. It’s not my news to tell!

Back to the car for our trip to Positano. The roads are so windy and narrow. At one point they put a stop light at the top and the bottom and made the road one way. The views were beautiful.
                                        





We arrived at The Hotel Bougainville. There is parking right across the street. 




The streets are narrow. We walked all the way down to the beach and had a cocktail hoping to catch the sunset. It was too cloudy. Susie and I had Lemoncello Spritzers and they were delicious. 








We decided to stay down on the beach and have an early dinner. At Tre Sorrele (Three Sisters.)




Back up the long and winding steps to our hotel. Early night!

 June 12, 2026 – Stirling Castle and a Scottish Welcome Good morning, Edinburgh! Steve and Jeff went out exploring early this morning while Susie and I stayed back to get ready for the day. During their walk, they visited St. Mary’s Cathedral. Construction took five years and was completed in 1885 at a cost of £110,000, which would be roughly equivalent to several million dollars today. One interesting fact we learned is that no building in Edinburgh is permitted to be taller than the Castle, helping preserve the city’s historic skyline. At 12:45, we met the other 20 travelers on our Tauck tour in the hotel lobby. The group seems wonderful, with most people around our age, along with a few who are younger and a few who are older.   Saturday, June 13, 2026 – Edinburgh, Scotland We had a leisurely breakfast at 7:00 a.m. because it was wheels up at 8:00 for a full day of sightseeing of Edinburgh. Our first stop was a private tour of Palace of Holyroodhouse. The palace is magnificent and steeped in centuries of history. It serves as the official Scottish residence of King Charles III. Since the King is not currently in residence, we were fortunate to be allowed to tour his home. He is expected to arrive later this month for Royal Week. No photographs were permitted inside the palace. Tauk gave us a souvenir tour book so I have included some pictures.  The dining room was set for fourteen guests with beautiful green china designed to complement the wall color. We walked through the actual sitting room where members of the Royal Family receive guests before dinner.
