Monday

 Today was a quiet day. It was beautiful, but breezy. We walked around the neighborhood and found a few more stores. We found a cheese store, fruit and vegetable store, and a bread store. There are lots of Befanas in our neighborhood. She’s a character in a Tomie DePaola book, The Legend of Old Befana. She sweeps all day long. The women of Polingnano a Mare are always sweeping their steps and the sidewalks in front of their houses.

We met back at the house with our host Enza and her husband Dominic, to replace the BBQ grill and figure out the television. We walked around the neighborhood and found a fishing supply store. Steve had brought a collapsible fishing pole, but the kit didn’t have any line. Steve and Jeff want to fish off our terrace. Fingers crossed that they don’t catch any octopus. Ugh! We had so much food from Enza’s meal that we decided to stay in for lunch and dinner to eat it. Everything was delicious. More adventures tomorrow.
